• BRUJAS, BÉLGICA: canales, Belfort y encanto medieval 🇧🇪

🇬🇧 Bruges is one of those cities that seems made for slow walks, surrounded by canals, medieval houses and charming little streets.

In the city centre is the Markt, the main square, dominated by the famous Belfry, an 83-metre medieval tower that was once a symbol of the city’s power and independence.

The canals are another highlight of Bruges and one of the best ways to discover its most picturesque corners.

I especially enjoyed walking through the historic centre, with its restaurants, terraces and beautiful brick buildings.

Another place worth visiting is the Beguinage, founded in the 13th century, with its white houses and peaceful garden where some nuns still live today.

The historic centre, the Belfry and the Beguinage are all part of the UNESCO World Heritage.

Bruges is about 100 km from Brussels and is very easy to reach by train: the direct journey takes around one hour, making it a perfect day trip from the Belgian capital.

🇬🇧 Brussels is a city I particularly enjoyed for its mix of history, architecture and the lively atmosphere you feel while walking through the centre.

The Grand-Place is definitely the place to start, surrounded by historic buildings, former guild houses linked to trade and different crafts, and the impressive Gothic Town Hall dating from the 15th century.

For centuries, the square was at the heart of Brussels’ commercial life and today it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Every two years, in August, it becomes the setting for the famous Flower Carpet, an enormous floral artwork covering the square for a few days.

From there, the city centre is perfect for walking, with pedestrian streets, chocolate shops, restaurants and plenty of life.

Among the city’s best-known sights are the Manneken-Pis and, nearby, its female counterpart, Jeanneke-Pis.

Brussels is also one of the main European capitals, home to the European Commission and the Council of the European Union.

For a completely different experience, head to the Atomium and its surrounding park, one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks and a place you can visit inside.

The Royal Palace is also open to visitors during the summer season.

Brussels has an extensive public transport network, including metro, trams, buses and trains, making it easy to explore without a car.

🇬🇧 Just a short distance from Amsterdam, you’ll find Marken and Volendam, two small villages that still preserve much of the traditional charm of the Netherlands.

In Marken, a former island village, I loved the little houses, canals and small harbor, surrounded by restaurants and craft shops.

One of the most curious places is the clog factory, where you can see how traditional Dutch wooden shoes are made.

There are also shops selling souvenirs, blue-and-white ceramics, bracelets and other typical Dutch items.

Volendam, about 20 km from Amsterdam, has a lovely waterfront promenade along the harbor, with restaurants, cafés and shops.

It’s a great place to walk around, look at the boats and enjoy the atmosphere of this former fishing village.

Both villages are easy to reach by car from Amsterdam, as well as by public transport.

They are two easy day trips for discovering a quieter and more traditional side of the Netherlands.

👉 Book your Marken & Volendam tour here.

🇬🇧 Amsterdam is one of those cities that are best enjoyed on foot. Its city center combines historic houses, bridges, bicycles and the famous canal belt, which gives the city its unique character.

A good place to start is Dam Square, where you will find the Royal Palace of Amsterdam and the Nieuwe Kerk (New Church). The Royal Palace is open to the public on certain days and admission for adults costs €13.50.

From there, you can walk towards Amsterdam’s main canals: Singel, Herengracht, Keizersgracht and Prinsengracht. It is also worth exploring De Negen Straatjes (The Nine Streets), an area with small shops, galleries and cafés.

One of the most interesting walking routes starts at Central Station, continues along Damrak to Dam Square and then heads towards Jordaan, one of Amsterdam’s best-known neighborhoods. This is where you will find the Anne Frank House, where admission costs €16.50 and must be booked online in advance.

For art lovers, Museumplein is home to some of the city’s most important museums. The Rijksmuseum, with works by Rembrandt and Vermeer, costs €25, while the Van Gogh Museum, dedicated to the famous Dutch painter, also has a general admission price of €25.

Another walking route can include De Pijp, home to the famous Albert Cuyp Market, and from there you can continue towards Museumplein.

Bicycles are an essential part of everyday life in Amsterdam. Renting one is a good option for exploring areas farther from the city center, although you need to be especially careful on the cycle paths and with the heavy bicycle traffic.

To get around the city, you can also use trams, metro, buses and ferries. A one-day GVB ticket costs €10.

And to experience Amsterdam from a different perspective, I recommend taking a canal boat tour. Traditional one-hour tours start at approximately €15.50 per person.

As evening falls, you can explore De Wallen, Amsterdam’s famous Red Light District, one of the city’s most distinctive and well-known areas.

With its canals, museums, bicycles and historic neighborhoods, Amsterdam offers plenty of opportunities to discover the city on foot and combine the main tourist attractions with different walks through the city center.

🇬🇧 Buenos Aires is a city that always has something new to discover. Located on the western shore of the Río de la Plata, it is the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina and the seat of the national government. Cosmopolitan, vibrant and full of contrasts, Buenos Aires is a city where history and modern life come together.

Buenos Aires was founded twice: the first time in 1536 by Pedro de Mendoza, and the second, definitive foundation took place in 1580, led by Juan de Garay. The historic centre of Buenos Aires is around Plaza de Mayo, home to some of the city’s most iconic landmarks: the Casa Rosada, the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Cabildo, the former colonial town hall. From here, you can explore the historic centre, Avenida de Mayo and Plaza del Congreso.

Among the city’s oldest and most traditional neighbourhoods is San Telmo, famous for its cobblestone streets, historic houses, markets, antiques and the atmosphere of one of Buenos Aires’ oldest areas. La Boca, Monserrat, San Nicolás and Recoleta are also worth exploring. Recoleta is one of the city’s most elegant neighbourhoods, known for its beautiful avenues, cafés, restaurants and cultural attractions.

One of the easiest ways to discover many Buenos Aires attractions is the city’s paid Tourist Bus, which connects several of the main sights and neighbourhoods, including the historic centre, San Telmo, Recoleta, Puerto Madero and Palermo.

And then there is Palermo, one of my favourite areas of Buenos Aires. Its parks and lakes offer a completely different side of the city. Parque Tres de Febrero, the Rosedal, the Japanese Garden and the Planetarium are perfect places to walk, relax, take photographs or simply enjoy Buenos Aires at a slower pace.

Buenos Aires is also famous for its culture and nightlife. Corrientes Avenue is filled with theatres, bookshops, restaurants and traditional pizzerias. Nearby, the Obelisk has become one of the city’s most recognisable symbols, while the magnificent Teatro Colón is one of the most prestigious opera houses in the world, renowned for its architecture and exceptional acoustics. The monumental Avenida 9 de Julio completes one of the most iconic views of Buenos Aires.

Along the Río de la Plata, the Costanera offers another perspective of the city, while Puerto Madero combines modern architecture, restaurants and walks beside the water. Buenos Aires also has an extensive public transport network, making it easy to explore its different neighbourhoods.

Buenos Aires has history, architecture, parks, gastronomy, art, theatres, tango, nightlife and neighbourhoods with completely different personalities. But, above all, it has a very special energy. Whenever I look at the city carefully, it always gives me a new image to remember.

🇬🇧 Mendoza is a city that invites you to walk around at a leisurely pace, among tree-lined streets, irrigation ditches and spacious squares. The city center revolves around Plaza Independencia, the largest of the five main squares, surrounded by Plaza España, Plaza Italia, Plaza Chile and Plaza San Martín. Plaza España, with its colorful ceramics and Spanish-inspired details, is one of the prettiest. Sarmiento pedestrian street, San Martín Avenue and Las Heras Street are some of the main areas in the city center, while to the west you will find the Civic Center and the huge General San Martín Park, where you can visit Cerro de la Gloria and enjoy its green spaces.

Wine tourism in Mendoza is undoubtedly one of its main attractions. The province offers several wine routes, where you can visit wineries, explore vineyards, enjoy tastings and have lunch at excellent restaurants. Some of the best-known areas are Luján de Cuyo and Maipú, where you will find both traditional and modern wineries offering tours and lunches, and some even have accommodation. Visiting a winery and enjoying lunch overlooking the vineyards is, for me, one of the best ways to experience Mendoza.

Another excursion I highly recommend is the High Mountain tour, a spectacular journey through the Andes. The route passes through Potrerillos, Uspallata, Puente del Inca and Aconcagua Provincial Park, where you can reach the Laguna de Horcones viewpoint. The journey continues to Las Cuevas and, depending on the season and road conditions, can reach Christ the Redeemer, near the Chilean border. You can also take excursions to Cacheuta, famous for its thermal baths, as well as Villavicencio, and explore the Uco Valley and Tupungato.

Mendoza also has an excellent range of hotels, from luxury properties to more affordable options, and the city center is easy to explore on foot. The Francisco Gabrielli International Airport, known as El Plumerillo, connects the city with several destinations, and from there you can arrange transfers, rent a car or join different excursions. With so much to offer, Mendoza can be enjoyed in just a few days to discover the city and its surroundings, or over a longer stay to fully enjoy its wine, gastronomy and mountains.

✅ Tours and excursions: Book your high-mountain excursions, boat tours, and guided visits in advance with Tiqets or Klook.

✅ Regional transfers: Organize your transfers from the airport to your hotel or between cities and wineries with GetTransfer.

✅ Mobile internet: Stay connected at all times with a YeSIM eSIM without paying roaming fees.

🇬🇧 Argentine Patagonia is one of those destinations that combines breathtaking landscapes with charming small towns. Lakes, mountains, forests, snow and scenic roads are all part of a journey that allows you to discover three very different places: Bariloche, Villa La Angostura and San Martín de los Andes, connected by the famous Seven Lakes Route.

Bariloche, on the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi, is usually the starting point. Its downtown area is easy to explore on foot, beginning with the Civic Center, one of the city’s most representative landmarks. Nearby is the Cathedral of Our Lady of Nahuel Huapi, while along Mitre Street you will find shops, restaurants and the famous chocolate shops that are part of Bariloche’s identity. Mamuschka, Rapa Nui and El Turista are some of the best-known names, and you can also visit the Chocolate Museum.

But much of Bariloche’s appeal lies beyond the city center. The Circuito Chico takes you through some of the most beautiful landscapes in the area, with viewpoints overlooking the lake and mountains. One of its main attractions is Cerro Campanario, which can be reached by chairlift or on foot and offers one of the best panoramic views of Bariloche from the top.

Another classic is Cerro Otto, famous for its cable car and revolving restaurant. For those visiting in winter, Cerro Catedral is the main attraction. It is one of Argentina’s leading ski resorts, offering slopes for different levels, as well as snowboarding and other winter activities.

In summer, the lakes take center stage. Kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, hiking and other outdoor activities allow visitors to enjoy places such as Playa Bonita, Playa Serena and the shores of Lake Gutiérrez. There are also unforgettable excursions, including trips to Victoria Island and Mount Tronador.

Food is another attraction in Bariloche. Besides chocolate, you can try trout, local meats, craft beer and dishes that are perfect for cold days, such as fondue. The accommodation options are extensive, ranging from hotels in the city center to lodges, cabins and lakeside properties.

From Bariloche, the journey continues to Villa La Angostura, a much smaller and quieter town located between Lake Nahuel Huapi and Lake Correntoso. Its center is concentrated around Avenida Arrayanes, with restaurants, cafés, chocolate shops and stores.

Villa La Angostura is especially appealing to those looking for nature and tranquility. The Arrayanes Forest is one of its best-known excursions and can be visited on foot or by boat from the port. There are also numerous beaches and bays to enjoy in summer, as well as hiking trails and water activities.

Among its characteristic landmarks is the El Messidor Residence and, in the Puerto Manzano area, an interesting selection of hotels and lakeside accommodations. Even on rainy days, when outdoor activities may be more difficult, the town retains its charm thanks to its tea houses, restaurants and small shops.

From Villa La Angostura begins one of Argentina’s most spectacular road trips: the Seven Lakes Route. The road connects this town with San Martín de los Andes, passing through lakes, forests, mountains and numerous viewpoints. Among the best-known lakes are Correntoso, Espejo, Villarino, Falkner, Machónico and Lácar.

The journey ends in San Martín de los Andes, on the shores of Lake Lácar. It is a small, pleasant town that is easy to explore on foot, with restaurants, chocolate shops, cafés and stores concentrated around the town center and Avenida San Martín.

A few kilometers away is Chapelco, one of Patagonia’s main ski resorts. In winter, it offers skiing, snowboarding and different snow activities, while during the warmer months, the mountain and its surroundings are ideal for enjoying nature.

Bariloche, Villa La Angostura and San Martín de los Andes offer three different ways to experience Patagonia. Bariloche combines nature, food and activities throughout the year; Villa La Angostura invites you to slow down among forests and lakes; and San Martín de los Andes is the perfect ending to a journey along the Seven Lakes Route.

✅ Tours and excursions: Book your glacier cruises, trekking tours, and guided excursions in advance with Klook.
